Missional Communities
The early Christians devoted themselves to the word, to each other, and to prayer. They took care of and sacrificed for each other. They had a “day by day” rhythm (Acts 2:42-46) of celebrating their faith and sharing all they had with glad and generous hearts. They had favor with all the people, and the Lord added to their number day by day those who were being saved (2:47). They were a transformed people on mission for Christ. They were a missional community.
What is Church?
What would it look like if we just simply looked to the example of the early church in Acts 2? What would our daily spiritual rhythm look like if we believed, followed, and obeyed the good news of Jesus daily? At Reclaimed, we believe it would look more like a community on mission, or a missional community.
Reclaimed Church is Church Reclaimed
If you start with only the Bible and follow the model of the early church in the New Testament, what kind of church will you end up with?
For the first Christians, church was daily devotion to scripture, each other, growing spiritually, prayer, and the sharing of Jesus (Acts 2:42-47). Reclaimed is all about capturing the heart, spirit, and intent of the early church. We believe the church should look more like communities on mission with Jesus, or missional communities (MCs).
We are simple. We gather in what we call Missional Communities (some use the terms house churches or micro-churches). Actually, “Missional Community” (MC) describes us best. MCs are often described as a group of 20 to 30 people forming an extended family on mission together. We connect, learn, grow, and live life day-to-day on mission for Jesus.
We are organic in that we are a non-denominational church that is born out of spiritual life rather than by religious structures and programs. Our gatherings are Spirit-led, open-participatory get-togethers where God’s word is celebrated, shared, prayed, sung and where we join at the Lord’s table for fellowship and communion.
We are not looking for you to join us for an “event” but rather a fellowship
where you can live for Jesus in all of life. Let us walk with you for encouragement, for mentoring, for spiritual development.
Reclaimed church is not about a location or building. We’re not about an event to attend once or twice a week. We’re not about human-made forms, structures, or traditions. Reclaimed MCs are believers in Jesus Christ who love one another (FAMILY) and show and tell what God is like (MISSIONARIES) by demonstrating the gospel in tangible forms (SERVANTS).
What Are MCs?
MCs are groups of 12 to 30 disciples who are walking with each other in the daily rhythms of life. Reclaimed MCs gather on Sundays for community, prayer and praise, and partaking of the Lord’s Supper.
During the week, smaller groups meet to fellowship and discuss and apply God’s word. We do life with one another to help each other develop our UP relationship with God, our IN relationship with each other, and our OUT relationships with others.
We are extended family on mission for God serving others. We are communities on mission. We are missional communities.
We are a family of missionary servants who are striving to follow Jesus in all of life.
MCs are a place where faith and life come together.
